AQUA NON-POTABILE by Valentina Sciarra
Valentina Sciarra is born in Rome, Italy in 1983. After a Master Degree in Law and many specialized courses in photography, she obtained her diploma in 2013 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome with a thesis on “Les espaces en friches ‘in the urban space’”, written during a study program at Villa Arson Art Academy in Nice, France. She currently lives and works in Sofia, where she also completed a Master’s degree in Sculpture at the National Academy of Arts in 2018. Generally, her works are in-situ interventions that utilize different mediums from photography to installation, from sculpture to sound. In 2013, she made her first public commission “Entre terre et ciel” for the entry of Hopital Archet of Nice, which was followed by several site-specific interventions, both temporary and permanent, including:
Growing touching land and then being reborn (2013) for the Piazza del Municipio of Camigliano (IT); Trace (2013) for the Garden of Sartorio Museum in Trieste (IT); Moto perpetuo (2015) for the French Embassy in Baku (AZ); Vita (2016) a permanent land art installation in the Murgia’s National Park (IT). Her last solo projects in Bulgaria were presented at Arosita Gallery (2017) curated by Zoia Petrova, at Aether curated by Voin de Voin (2018) and the land artwork at rock formation “Strupanitsa”, Lukovit curated by Natalia Lenz (The Fridge) and supported by Gaudenz B. Ruf Award.
ACQUA NON-POTABILE by Valentina Sciarra is part of the art interventions, curаted by The Fridge and realized as part of “Sense of a City: Inclusive, Safe and Sustainable Plovdiv”, a project by the Bulgarian Fund for Women, implemented as a part of the program Plovdiv – European Capital of Culture 2019.
