The play with colors and light as the primary mean of expression in Stela Vasileva’s project provides a possible way to overturn our perceptions of shape, color, and rhythm of reflections. The transformation of the passage in Proslav, with the help of LED lighting, aims at influencing on the intuitive level of the personal perception of the environment.

Stela Vasileva (b.1983) lives and works in Sofia. She graduated from the National Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia with a major in Mural Painting. She won the Gaudenz B. Ruf Award (2010), as well as various residences including KulturKontakt, Vienna, Austria (2012), Krinzinger Projekte, Petomihalyfa, Hungary – Vienna (2012), Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris, France (2014). Stela Vasileva participated in numerous group exhibitions and projects. Among her solo appearances are: “Signs of Sound”, +359 Gallery, Sofia and The Cultural Center – Palace Balchik (2018/2017); “Tunnel”, underpass of Vardar (2017); “Under Construction”, Contemporary Space Gallery, Varna (2015); “5 Boxes”, The fridge, Sofia (2015); “Work and Leisure”, Un Cabinet D’Amateur Gallery, Sofia (2014) and others.

ТHE LIGHTS OF THE CITY by Stela Vasileva is part of the art interventions, curаted by The Fridge and realized as part of “Sense of a City: Inclusive, Safe and Sustainable Plovdiv”, a project by the Bulgarian Fund for Women, implemented as a part of the program Plovdiv – European Capital of Culture 2019.
